School Concerts, Performances & Assemblies

Gathering together as a school family is an important part of life at Hillview Christian School. Through Team, Junior and Senior Campus, and Whole School Assemblies, pupils and staff worship God through singing, prayer, devotions, and the sharing of His Word, while celebrating the many ways He is working in our community. We intentionally recognise not only academic achievement, but also Christ-like character, kindness, perseverance, service, leadership, growth, and effort, reminding pupils that each one is uniquely created by God with purpose, value, and gifts to share.

Throughout the year, pupils are encouraged to discover, develop, and confidently use their God-given gifts through opportunities such as speech presentations, Bible storytelling, the Talent Quest, dance groups, and our End-of-Year Concert. These experiences help pupils grow in courage, communication, creativity, teamwork, and confidence, while providing opportunities to honour God and bless others with their gifts. Our year concludes with a special celebration in which every child participates and receives a personalised certificate recognising their unique contribution, character, growth, and the individual strengths God is developing within them, reinforcing that every pupil is known, valued, and called to use their gifts for His glory.

Visual Arts

A visit to our classrooms reveals the wide range of artistic talent and creativity on display throughout Hillview. From Year 0, students are encouraged to explore and develop their artistic skills through a variety of creative experiences.

In our Primary and Middle School (Years 3–8), students participate in engaging projects that showcase both their imagination and learning. These include creating artwork for the Boats project, Landmark studies, constructing Endangered Animal Dioramas, and exploring the story of The Birth of Aotearoa through visual art.

Visual Art is also offered as a subject option for Year 9 and 10 students. The curriculum provides opportunities to develop skills in printmaking, drawing, painting and sculpture, as well as taking part in field trips that enrich their artistic learning.
